Follow this gentle guide to help your plush friend stay fresh, fluffy, and ready for a lifetime of warm hugs.
Before You Wash — First Step Rules
Always check the sewn-in care label on your plush friend first.
Washing instructions may vary depending on the fabric, filling, size, embroidery, accessories, or weighted components.
Choose the Right Cleaning Method
Before washing, check your plush friend’s care label, size, filling, and special features.

Step-by-Step Care Instructions
Most small and medium-sized washable plush toys can be machine washed safely.
Step 1 – Protect Your Plush
Place your plush inside a soft mesh laundry bag or zippered pillowcase to reduce rubbing, stretching, and wear during washing.
Step 2 – Gentle Cycle Only
Use cold water and Gentle / Delicate / Hand Wash cycle with low-speed spin. Avoid hot water and high spin cycles.
Step 3 – Add Mild Detergent
Use a small amount of gentle detergent. Avoid bleach, harsh stain removers, or strong cleaning chemicals.
Step 4 – Air Dry Completely
Remove from bag, gently reshape, and lay flat in a well-ventilated area. Avoid storing while the inside is damp.
Hand washing is the gentlest method and recommended for delicate or larger plush toys.
Step 1 – Prepare Cold Water
Fill a clean sink or basin with cold water.
Step 2 – Add Mild Detergent
Add a small amount of gentle detergent and mix well.
Step 3 – Wash Gently
Submerge and gently press to work soapy water through. Do not scrub, twist or wring.
Step 4 – Rinse Thoroughly
Drain and rinse with fresh cold water, pressing gently until water runs clear.
Step 5 – Towel Dry & Air Dry
Press with a dry towel to absorb water, reshape, and air dry completely.
Spot cleaning is ideal for small stains and helps maintain the plush without full washing.
Step 1 – Prepare Solution
Mix a small amount of mild detergent with cold or lukewarm water.
Step 2 – Clean Stained Area
Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently dab the stained area. Avoid soaking inner filling.
Step 3 – Remove Soap Residue
Use another clean, damp cloth to gently remove any remaining detergent residue.
Step 4 – Air Dry
Leave the plush friend in a well-ventilated area until completely dry.

Special Care Instructions
🐻 Large & Oversized Teddy Bears
Can My Teddy Bear Go in the Washing Machine?
Small & Medium: If it fits comfortably, has room to tumble, and is labeled machine washable ➔ Follow Machine Wash rules.
Large & Oversized: If it barely fits or fills the drum completely ➔ Do NOT machine wash the entire bear. An overcrowded washer will not clean properly and places stress on both toy and machine.
If the Filling Is Removable:
- Carefully remove the filling from the zippered opening.
- Place empty outer shell inside a pillowcase or mesh bag.
- Wash shell with cold water on Gentle / Delicate cycle.
- Allow outer shell to dry completely, then reinsert filling.
- Gently reshape and fluff your teddy bear.
*Only remove filling when designed with an access opening. Do not cut open sewn seams solely for washing.
⚖ Special Care for Weighted Plush
Weighted filling or bead inserts have specific washing needs. Follow these 6 steps carefully:
Step 1 — Check Label
Confirm if machine washable, hand washable, or spot clean only.
Step 2 — Remove Weight
Remove weighted pouch or bead insert before washing if removable.
Step 3 — Protect Plush
Place outer plush inside a mesh laundry bag or zippered pillowcase.
Step 4 — Wash Gently
Cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent, low spin speed.
Step 5 & 6 — Dry & Reinsert
Dry outer shell completely, replace weighted insert into original position, and reshape.
⚠ Important: Never machine wash a weighted insert unless its care instructions specifically state it is machine washable.
Restoration Atelier
Bring Back the Fluff
After washing and drying, your plush may look a little flatter than usual. That’s completely normal!
Reshape
Gently massage and squeeze the inner filling with your hands to break up clumps and restore its original shape.
Fluff the Fur
For long-fur plush, gently brush the fur with a soft brush or wide-tooth comb slowly in the direction of the fur.
Dry Damp Fur
Use a hair dryer on a cool or low-heat setting at a safe distance, moving continuously. Avoid high heat to protect synthetic fibers.
